Nydia Rojas has lent her innate musical talent and stylistic finesse to a genre steeped in tradition since the age of 9. As a vocalist, songwriter and guitarist, she continues to embrace Mexican folk music while fusing it with contemporary musical influences. Nydia released her major label debut album at only 15 years old, as the first Latina to sign with Arista Records-Latin Division and contributed to setting the pace for contemporary mariachi music in the U.S. She quickly gained praise as she performed throughout the country, establishing her as one of best Latin female vocalists. She was invited to perform for President Clinton for his 2nd term inauguration, and later that year, she was declared a "sensation" by USA Today, and an artist "destined to become a crossover smash" by Billboard Magazine. In the next five years another three solo albums followed. At the age of 20, Nydia's third album, Si Me Conocieras, was nominated for a Latin Grammy award. Soon afterwards, she embarked on several national tours with Mexican superstar, Juan Gabriel. This collaboration led to her fourth album, Nydia, which took more of a mainstream direction while displaying all of Nydia's fine musical skills. On this album, Gabriel graciously sang two duets and recorded key background vocals. He named her one of the best interpreters of his music. Nydia has toured or shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Latin music including Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez, Alejandro Fernandez, Lola Beltran, Lucha Villa, Pepe Aguilar, Ana Gabriel and many others. Nydia continues to passionately evolve her musical style while still paying tribute to her musical heritage.
